Christmas Parties for Kids

Every year when Christmas season comes, you can expect a lot of parties everywhere. Since Christmas is really for kids, you can expect a lot of children’s parties too. If you have little ones at home, you swill probably be throwing at least one for them yourself. It would bring a lot of smiling faces around, not to mention the squeals of delight as the children play around  their favorite Christmas games. However, the holiday season will also mean that moms and dads will be busy too. So, in order not to spoil the fun, it makes sense to plan ahead. Throwing a party is no joke because there are so many things that you have to take care of. There are supplies to buy, food to make and games to plan.

If you want stress free shopping,  you should consider ordering party items on the Internet. You can find party favors, centerpieces, napkins, plates, tablecloths, etc right on your computer.

As for activities for the kids, plan some craft activities such as making Christmas ornaments, that they can take home  to put on their own tree. Here is a site with ideas for kids to make their own ornaments:  kids ornaments.

Coloring: You can set out crayons and coloring books or pages for the kids to color. Click here for free printable  Christmas coloring pages .

Some games you can play are:

Guess what’s on the tray: Take a large tray with a cover. Put 20 or more different small Christmas related items on the tray. Some of the things you can put on there are: a candy cane, a small ornament, a reindeer toy, a baby Jesus figurine, a Christmas present bow, etc. Let the kids look at the tray for 1 minute. Then cover the tray and have the kids write down as many items from memory as they can. The one with the most correct items wins a small prize.

Bean Bag Toss: An oldie but goodie.

Unwrap the Gift: Wrap a bunch of empty boxes in Christmas gift warp. Put all the gift boxes in a pile on one side of the room. Put 2 trash cans about 10 feet away  from the pile of gifts. Divide the kids in two teams. Say “GO” and the first team member from each team will run over to the pile, and unwrap a gift as fast as they can. Then they will ball the gift wrap paper into a ball and shoot it like a basketball into the trashcan. Then the child will run back to the team and the next team member will repeat the process. When all the gifts are unwrapped, whichever team’s trashcan has the most gift wrap in it, wins!

Santa Says: Just like “Simon Says” but with Santa instead of Simon.

Christmas Pinata: Pinatas are a lot of fun for kids. Below are some great Christmas pinatas:

For food, you can be adventurous and let the kids decorate their own Christmas cookies. Have some things set out that are not sweet though so the kids don’t get too hyped up on sugar. Pizza, veggie trays and dip, and cheese sticks are possible choices.

Of course, play Christmas music in the background and have fun!
